Best Places to Go at Night in Kuta

Kuta rose to international fame from surfing hype and its golden sand beach, but once the sun sets you’ll find an exciting nightlife scene with its wealth of bars, clubs and sunset chill-out spots. Some are outright late clubbing venues that are open as late as 04:00 in the morning, while others are great bars that transform into livelier spots with exhilarating dance floors and resident and international guest DJs spinning their best beats to a play of colourful lasers.

A long-running club is District, which is the evolution of the legendary Musro Bali on Jalan Kartika Plaza. Also on the street is Gracie Kelly’s at the Bali Dynasty Resort, which is unique in that it is the only Irish Pub on the island. On the beach street of Jalan Pantai Kuta, there is the Hard Rock Café, and the newer Hypnotized on the third level of the Kuta Beachwalk which also makes up the nightly scene. Here we’ve picked out the Top 10 spots in Kuta for those looking for a great time after sunset.

Centerstage is actually Hard Rock Hotel Bali’s central lobby bar that follows the brands music theme, but the venue is better known as a live entertainment and special events arena rather than a ‘normal’ hotel lobby. The main feature is a stage built right in the centre, atop of the bar which hosts regular live bands performing nightly. The raised stage is a hard-to-miss, eye-catching feature, most of the time complete with a drum set. Patrons seated surrounding the bar, enjoying live performances from up close and stage acts get an all-round view from all sides of the venue. Their ‘band of the month’ alternate with a line-up of established performers, including the long-performing Siluet Band that usually presents retro 70s rock, 80s dance and the latest Top 40 selections. Centerstage also hosts unique shows, especially around the hotel’s anniversary celebrations such as the Hard Rock’s annual body painting competitions and unplugged gigs by international guest stars. For a slightly different take on spending a night out in Kuta, try out this unique show. Kuta Theater started out as a unique addition to the entertainment scene in Kuta, presenting a stage of magical tricks performed by Bali’s handful of stage magicians, and then developed to include theatrical aspects to its show. Now it is a must-see on Kuta’s Jalan Kartika Plaza and serves as a great night out for the family. For only USD 10, you can enjoy this fun show that blends stage magic with a theatrical and cultural drama, known as Lights of Faith. It tells a story of traditional friendship faced with the challenges of modernism. There’s fun and hilarious moments mixed in between tense and thrilling illusion scenes. Read More...
