Some are held regularly each year and are part of competition tours sanctioned by the Asian Surfing Championships (ASC). Rip Curl Cup 2016

Location: Padang Padang, Uluwatu
This is one of the biggest annual surfing competitions in Bali, culmination of the preceding Rip Curl Cup Trials in July. When the dates with the best swells are confirmed within this month, it will be a great chance to see the world’s best surfers in action, barrelling through their way to the top at the famous breaks of Padang Padang near Uluwatu. Organisers were forced to turn their sights to this year, after last year’s cancellation, which was only the second time in the 12-year history of the highly anticipated event.
Volcom Stone Totally Crustaceous Tour 2016

Location: Kuta Beach
Volcom’s Totally Crustaceous Tour 2016 kicked off with a record setting 132 contestants in April at Lembeng Beach in Sanur. The kids competed for fun prizes and a qualifying spot in the TCT Indonesian finals in August at Kuta Beach. Volcom Stone’s Totally Crustaceous Tour has run across the globe since 1999, making it one of the longest free surf series dedicated to the youth.
Billabong Grommet Attack 2016

Location: Halfway, Kuta Beach
The last leg in the annual Billabong Grommet Attack series hits Kuta Beach as an Asian Surfing Championships (ASC) sanctioned event. The ‘grom’ with the highest accumulative score at the end of the series will be crowned the series champion, taking home the coveted event trophy, gifts and prizes from Billabong and other participating sponsors. In addition to the excitement of the event, participants, parents and spectators are also encouraged to partake in a beach clean-up that will take place at the end of each series.
Surf Jam Bali 2016
Date: 12-15 November, 2016
Location: Balian Beach, West Bali
This is one wacky surf event to witness while in Bali. This year’s would be the sixth time the annual Russian surfing festival unfolds, with participants (mostly Russian), hitting the waves in various costumes as one of the festival’s highlights. Then, the real board-riding competitions begin, including short board and long board categories. Last year’s event saw winners receiving gifts and prizes such as jewellery, surf gear and surf trips to neighbouring islands. Hilton Worldwide as sponsor announced that the prize for SurfJam 2016 will be SGD 50,000.
Volcom Stone Totally Crustaceous Tour 2017

Volcom’s Totally Crustaceous Tour 2017 is to slated to kick off with another record setting number of contestants. The kids will compete for fun prizes and a qualifying spot in the TCT Indonesian finals. The Mad Hueys Komune Bali Pro 2017
Date: May 5-7 2017 (TBA)
Location: Keramas Beach, Gianyar
This World Surf League (WSL) sanctioned event is slated for the Keramas surf breaks again this year. Last year’s Komune Bali Pro saw Taj Burrow paddle back to shore triumphantly, clinching victory in the final minute against Central Coast underdog Shane Holmes who was a standout throughout the event.
Rip Curl GromSearch 2017
Date: April 15-16 2017 (TBA)
Location: Padma Beach, Legian
Rip Curl usually announces their GromSearch series in January, and the series runs through six separate competitions staged at six different surf spots throughout the Indonesian archipelago, including Bali. The annual GromSearch gives any surfer under 16 years their shot at big time. The 2016 series saw its third leg held in Canggu in mid-April.
Billabong Grommet Attack 2017

Location: Padma Beach, Legian (TBA)
This ASC Junior sanctioned surf event in Bali is an annual offering by Billabong, and will see the first leg of the year’s series (depending on wave conditions), tentatively hitting the surf breaks at Padma Beach and Kuta Beach in July and August respectively. Triumphant riders are to receive a Billabong product pack and the grommet with the highest accumulative score will be crowned series champion, taking home a trophy, gifts and prizes from sponsors.
Rip Curl Cup Trials 2017

Location: Padang Padang, Uluwatu
This specialty surf event leads up to the highly anticipated Rip Curl Cup each year that is commonly held at Padang Padang near Uluwatu. Last year’s specialty event saw the battle for the one position up for grabs as tight as it's ever been between 32 Indonesian competitors.
Ombak Bali International Surf Film Festival 9th Edition
Date: 11-13 August 2017 (TBA)
Location: La Plancha, Jalan Mesari Beach, Seminyak
Ombak Bali hits the shore of La Plancha in Seminyak again this year, presenting three days of surf film screenings, music and art on August 11, 12 and 13. The film screenings are usually the main draw, and is free entry for the public. Ombak Bali in itself becomes a platform for surf filmmakers to promote their work, and aims to promote awareness of social issues and the environment by screening inspirational surf films.
Quiksilver Uluwatu Challenge 2017

This pro event is set to be an annual highlight, part of the annual ‘Bali's Big Eco Weekend Event’ by Quiksilver and Coca-Cola Indonesia that takes place around Indonesian Independence Day on 17 August. The week-long surfing festivity calls out to the public for cleaner and safer beaches, while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle through surfing. Last year’s challenge took place at the Race Tracks surf break, with several heats seeing dozens of Indonesia's best surfers battling it out through long backhand barrel rides.
