Candidasa is the perfect blend, everything one would want in a seaside resort: reasonable accommodations, various dining options, exciting water sports, natural hot springs and tranquil nights lulled by the gentle rolling surf and lapping of waves.
On this tour, you follow the eastern coasts of Bali, where traditions are kept alive in the many small villages. In the island's regency of Klungkung we visit the old high court of east Bali and gain valuable insights into the old ways that live on until today. Also not to miss are the many significant small temple sites which all have impressive stories to tell.
In the morning, we pick you up from your hotels in South of Bali area, for transfer to your hotel in Candidasa, Amed or Tulamben area. We'll drive to the east with first stop at Celuk, the center of exquisite silver works. Then en route to your hotel, we take you to visit Kerta Gosa, or Hall of Justice, built in 18th century in Klungkung. It is beautifully laid out within a moat and provides an exquisite example of the Klungkung style of painting and architecture which can be seen in their ceiling murals. Afterwards continue with visit Goa Lawah (Bat Cave), whose walls vibrate with thousands of bats, is considered holy and a temple also surrounding shrines protect the entrance. Optional lunch is at a local restaurant in Candi Dasa.
Our last visit will be Tenganan, an original Balinese village, a stronghold of ancient traditions. You can see the local women weave the famous "flaming" cloth, kamben geringsing, which supposedly has the power of immunize the wearer against evil. Then check in at your hotel at Candidasa. – But if you stay at hotel in Amed or Tulamben, we still continue the trip with visit to Puri Agung Kanginan and the former royal pools of Tirta Gangga. It's still reminder of the former power of the Balinese rajahs; and Puri Agung Amlapura, is decaying reminder of Karangasem's period as a kingdom in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
