Classic bistro fare is served at SIP. The menu features mains with seafood highlights, from roasted fillet of Tasmanian salmon topped with chive tarragon rosti potato and served with spinach leaves and a Madagascar green peppercorn sauce, ‘laid-back’ on-the-skin roasted Australian barramundi, to the red snapper ‘Comme en Provence’. Other meat delights include sautéed Kintamani farm-raised chicken with bacon strips and the chicken ‘cordon bleu’ or pork shank with lentils.
The world-famous ‘Tournedos Rossini’ features seared prime Australian beef tenderloin, aged for 15 days, served with deglazed Rossini sauce and ‘Rubis’ port wine, topped with seared duck foie gras and black truffle shavings, is also served here.
Two duck recipes which are a fond tribute to La Tour d’Argent include thick filets of Barbarie duck, one version sautéed in caramelized vinegar sauce and served with peeled Spanish navel orange segments, orange and lemon zests; and the other version sautéed and deglazed in white wine and served with slightly creamy green peppercorn sauce and sautéed Fuji apples. Both are served with oven-roasted potato maxims and beet salad with shallot mustard dressing on the side.
For the sweet tooth, SIP offers dessert delights from individual soufflés bottomed with sponge finger biscuits and served with a side shot of Grand Marnier, to crème brulée, vanilla confit and caramelized sliced pear, and SIP’s famous pear bourdalou served with Madagascar vanilla sauce. These, and an extensive beverage list, are complemented by an even more extensive wine list.
The main dining room seats 45, the terrace seats 25, and a private dining room up to 45 guests. SIP also welcomes ‘to-go’ orders as well. The restaurant is open for lunch from 12:00 to 17:00 and for dinner from 17:30 to 22:30.
Good to Know about SIP Wine Bar
SIP Wine Bar features La soirée de ‘L’ordre De La Chaussette Vineuse’ or ‘the Order of the Wine Sock’ evening, every Tuesday, where diners arrive, choose their menu without seeing the wine list, state their wine colour preference and budget for a bottle. SIP chooses the wine bottle for guests hidden by a sock, decants it, and serves it blindly. The first bottle is free of charge for guests able to identify the grape.
