There is not much to Nusa Dua’s nightlife. Bars and lounges are mostly situated in luxurious resorts and hotels like the King Cole Bar at St. Regis Bali Resort, the Oolooloos Fun Pub at Nikko Bali Resort & Spa, and the Salsa Bar at Grand Hyatt Bali. Budaya Cultural Theatre at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel
The Budaya Cultural Theatre at the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel forms the centrepiece of the resort, which shows traditional Balinese dances on a large open stage, together with lavish dinners. Performances include the eloquent Legong dance performance, shown on Wednesdays, and buffet dinners feature food stations that include Bali’s famous ‘babi guling’. Dinner is served from 19:00 and the stage comes to life with the dancers and live gamelan troupe accompanying the performances from 20:00. When it’s wet, the events are moved into the hotel’s Kertagosa function room.

Cabaret Show at the Sol Beach House Benoa
Sol Beach House Benoa in Tanjung Benoa, just south of Nusa Dua, presents exciting cabaret shows every Sunday for its all-inclusive guests. From lip-syncing drag queens and Whitney Houston look-alikes, to Vegas-style dancers in lavish costumes, the dazzling cabarets are a winning highlight at the resort, held previously in its grand ballroom, but now has become a regular addition to its live entertainment agenda at its open beachfront venue. Balancing off the contemporary dancers is an addition of various Balinese cultural shows that include traditional dances and gamelan orchestra accompaniments. The show stays on schedule but moves back into the ballroom in case of unfavourable weather.

Cheers is a German-owned, Jakarta-based sports bar that has expanded its wings to become one of Bali’s most high-end nightspots. It is now the only place outside hotel complexes in Nusa Dua that is open after midnight. Cheers has two small pool tables, table football, TVs, as well as a PlayStation 2 room behind the mini-stage. It serves both local and international beverages and western food with steaks dominating the German-English-Russian-language menu. Last but not least, Cheers has free Wi-Fi and live music every Tuesday and Thursday.

Kupu-Kupu Amphitheatre at the Grand Nikko Bali
Kupu-Kupu Amphitheatre at the Grand Nikko Bali offers a different way to enjoy ‘nightlife’ in Nusa Dua. The Balinese open-air amphitheatre is located at the resort’s beachfront, with a backdrop of a towering limestone cliff carved with a magnificent statue that looms over the dining area and stage. Lavish buffet dinners accompany the live Balinese dance performances and regular traditional culture shows. Guests are usually welcomed with signature drinks and don a traditional Balinese ‘kamen’ waist cloth and sash, and ‘udeng’ headwear for men. A great way to experience Balinese culture and cuisine, the presented dishes usually comprise great local favourites, and after performances, the audience is welcome onstage for pictures with the vibrantly costumed dancers.

Luna Bonita is one of the best restaurants along Jalan Pratama in Tanjung Benoa, located between the Novotel Bali Benoa and the Grand Mirage Resort, where great dining with an eclectic range of dishes, from local Balinese and Indonesian selections to Mexican, combine with live entertainment in the evenings. Live acoustic guitarists take to the stage nightly, together with traditional Balinese dancers for a more grounded cultural twist. Most of the time, the performers interact with guests and so do the waiting staff, to get everyone dancing and joining in on the fun. Its bar presents a good selection of cocktails too.

Nyoman’s Beer Garden
Nyoman’s Beer Garden is a bar and restaurant located outside the southern gates of the BTDC, which offers a great place to hang out with a selection of international and local cuisine, together with cocktails and a range of international beers from its bar. While it is easily reachable on foot from most of the hotels within the Nusa Dua complex, the bar provides free shuttle services, adding to the convenience of getting to and from your hotel nightly. There’s live international sport feeds screened by default, and Sundays feature Bali’s favourite ‘babi guling’ spit roast pig, best served with cold draft Bintang or Kilkenny.

Oolooloos pub in Nikko hotel, although it’s located in the quiet southern part of Nusa Dua, is still a favourite. Pasar Senggol at the Grand Hyatt Bali is an open buffet dinner venue inspired by a traditional market, where an eclectic range of food is offered from uniquely designed stalls and carts, each with their own specialised kitchen and culinary teams. There are seafood grills, Asian wok stations, Indonesian favourites and dessert carts. The venue is located at the resort’s west wing and right down from the lobby. There’s even an evening activity area for guests, comprising a Balinese handicraft exhibition and market. The Tavern International Pub
The Tavern offers a brief escape away from your five-star luxury resort in Nusa Dua, located just at the main entrance gates of the BTDC. With a relaxed pub atmosphere, a menu full of snack varieties and fancy cocktails, this cosy nook also has a happy hour between 18:00 and 19:00. Attentive and friendly staff let you have a pleasurable time with good company. Steaks, pastas and Mexican food are ready for those feeling peckish, and the interiors feature vintage photographs and posters, as well as old English landscapes. This pub is great place to hang out and chat with friends over ice cold beer, and just a stroll away back to your Nusa Dua hotel along garden footpaths.
