Nusa Dua Beach Grill

Nusa Dua Beach Grill is the biggest, internationally-known, stand-alone restaurant overlooking the calm blue waters and white sand of Geger Beach. The covered area has a direct view to the sea with a separate pavilion on the left-hand side of the entrance. The menu covers pasta, seafood, sandwiches, and a variety of Indonesian dishes; but most of all, guests’ favourite is said to be mahi-mahi, comprising dates, black olives, steamed vegetables, as well as potatoes.

An award-winning beachfront restaurant, Raja’s serves Bali culinary treats with halal ingredients. Slavyanka is the only Russian restaurant on the island. Following the success of Sushi Bar Tsukiji Tei in Kuta, Chef Hideo Yamamoto opened this simple tatami-style outlet at the backyard of Sogo Department Store. Sushi Bar’s menu covers sushi sets, bowls, as well as a la carte dishes; gohan mono (rice dish), noodles, tempura, teppanyaki, an extensive selection of rolls, and much more. This small eatery may not have fancy décor, but the authentic Japanese food it serves is nothing less, if not better, than the tastes and values of big-name high-end restaurants. ‘Kokoro’ (heart) is what they use in their service.

The Balinese Theatre

Looking for a unique dining experience on the island of Gods? The Ayodya Resort’s Balinese Theatre Restaurant is definitely where to go. The concept is derived from the combination of an open-air amphitheatre and a restaurant. Waiters wear Balinese traditional clothes as they welcome guests by scattering aromatic flower petals. The buffet is ranged on each side of the stage and what’s on offer ranges from suhi, Peking duck, nasi goring, to various desserts. Live traditional acts are performed every night while guests enjoy their food and some dancers may also invite guests to dance with them after dinner is finished.

A good reputation doesn’t happen instantly. Take Ulam for an example; the restaurant may look old and far from modern, but it’s renowned for delivering satisfying service year after year. As a Balinese and seafood restaurant, Ulam’s specialities feature a seafood basket, grilled fish, the seafood parade, the Indonesian rijsttafel (A dishful of rice with small portions of side dishes), and megibung (Bali’s version of a communal meal). If Ubud has Warung Ibu Oka and Denpasar has Warung Chandra, then Nusa Dua has Warung Dolbie, serving Bali’s most famous dish ‘babi guling’. This small eatery looks very traditional and you might think that it’s just another street-food place when you pass it by; but in fact, Dolbie is a big name among Balinese pork menu lovers. One serving comes with a bowl of pork leg soup and a plate containing rice, a satay, as well as mini portions of each dish which is taken with bare hands; it may not look hygienic but that’s the way the island’s ‘babi guling’ restaurants do it.
