The Beach House Restaurant is a prominent beachfront diner and bar located on the main south-eastern coast of Gili Trawangan. The restaurant is part of one of the major groups of enterprises on Gili Trawangan, whose portfolio includes the namesake Beach House Resort, Ko-Ko-Mo Resort further south on the same strip, and the affiliated fast boat services, Gili Getaways.
The Beach House Restaurant offers great gourmet specials alongside fresh seafood barbecues that one can enjoy throughout the day. Amblers, cyclists and just about any visitor who has just hopped off the boat at Gili Trawangan’s main harbour nearby will most likely be tempted by the venue’s fresh seafood displays and billowing barbecues on one side, and its well laid-out restaurant with cosy setups overlooking the azure waters on the other.

Gili Trawangan is largely a haven for seafood lovers. Backpackers and budget travellers can easily find an abundance of mini stalls selling fresh catches from lobsters, snappers, king prawns and groupers at the night market nearby. But if it’s more of slap-up seafood dinner you’re after, head a few minutes’ walk west to find rows of fine venues, one of them being The Beach House Restaurant.
Elegantly laid-out, tea candle-lit white tables and chairs are set under an open beam wooden ceiling, and Moroccan-style glass lanterns subtly lighten the hall. Most people instantly prefer the top deck, mainly for unsurpassed views. By day, the island seascape is bright and clear with boat activity over the crystal clear waters, whilst sundown really highlights Beach House in its best light, as the dramatic skies and sea glow with duotones of crimson and blue.
We find our favourite spot at the midsection edge of the Beach House Restaurant's upper deck, after selecting our seafood and filling our salad plates at the roadside downstairs. We also went for the pork spare ribs, at IDR 110,000, which comes to our table several minutes later served with Oriental fried rice and deliciously sweet barbecue sauce.
You can choose lobster, coral trout, barramundi and even barracuda by the whole, ranging between IDR 60,000 to 90,000 per gram, or fillet from IDR 120,000 to 155,000 per serving. The butcher corner presents chicken and pork chorizos, bratwursts and kebabs, as well as beef and lamb. The great variety of selections to the grill are matched by its drink list. From the bar, there’s cocktails and martinis to pair with the awesome view. After-dinner, our Flaming Sambuca (IDR 50,000), went well with an unexpected fireworks display over the waters nearby.
