Sake no Hana in Bali

Luxurious Japanese Restaurant near Uluwatu

Sake no Hana is an upcoming fine Japanese restaurant, located adjacent to the new cliff-top luxury chill-out spot, Omnia Dayclub, at The Cliff at Alila Villas Uluwatu. Part of the worldwide hospitality company Hakkasan Group, the restaurant will be serving modern takes on classic Japanese dishes. The menu features a la carte selections ranging from charcoal grills, toban-yaki (prime cuts roasted on ceramic plates) and kamameshi (rice dishes cooked in an iron pot, called a kama), while sushi and sashimi are prepared to order at the sushi bar.

The restaurant’s concept and cuisine hails from its original restaurant in the heart of Mayfair, in London’s West End. Sake no Hana Bali will boast the same exquisite interiors designed by esteemed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, with linear bamboo and cypress wood, but with sweeping Indian Ocean views from its exotic cliff-top location. Among its delectable signature items are a Nasu to Ichijiku Agedashi (sesame-fried aubergine and fig) and a Salmon Hobayaki (char-grilled salmon on hoba leaf with red miso teriyaki).

The drinks at Sake no Hana comprise all the classic Japanese beverages you can think of – think ‘omakase’ (chef’s picks) cocktails, ‘oshouban’ (pairing) wines, premium sake and Kirin, Asahi Super Dry and Sapporo premium beers. Signature cocktails bear tempting names, such as Geisha’s Secret, a rich blend of Eldorado three-year-old rum, vanilla, peach, mint and lemon, served straight up in a stemless martini glass. Classic adaptations include a raspberry and apple Mai Tai, with Elements 8 Platinum rum, Diplomtaico reserva rum, orange curacao, raspberries, apple, almond syrup and lime, served in a rocks glass and topped with an ice ball, which goes great with sunsets over the Pecatu cliffs.
