  • Livingstone Café & Bakery in Bali

Coffee, Pastries and Vintage Art in Seminyak

    0

Livingstone Café & Bakery is a great place to start your day in Seminyak, with hearty breakfasts and freshly-brewed coffees. It also serves as a cosy and popular rendezvous point for gatherings with friends over selections of house blends and delicious cakes and pastries through the day. It’s hard to miss, situated on the street side of Petitenget’s main road and right in front of Kokonut Suites.

Mornings are wonderful at Livingstone Café & Bakery. Step inside and you’re instantly welcomed by a fine combination of aromas as a team of baristas run their buzzing espresso machines, while pastry chefs busily bake and arrange their goodies. You can browse over the bakery’s corner and make your pick from the displays full of whole wheat, sourdoughs, Turkish breads, sunflower breads, English muffins, lamingtons and many other choices of cakes.

  • Alternatively, settle down for a wholesome set breakfast option. The Baker’s Big Breakfast (IDR 90,000) includes eggs in any style, together with bacon-wrapped sausages, grilled tomato, mushrooms, crispy hash browns and your choice of home-baked toast. Livingstone’s homemade pancakes (IDR 50,000) are the classic fluffy buttermilk type, and are served with strawberry compote, maple syrup and butter.

For lunch and afternoon bites, Livingstone’s all-day menu has the Baker’s Steak Sandwich (IDR 95,000), comprising slices of grilled marinated beef on toasted baguettes with fresh rocket, barbecue sauce, aioli and homemade caramelised onion. There’s also The Baker’s Delight (IDR 75,000): a Hungarian beef goulash soup served with sour cream and your choice of toast. Pastas include penne, spaghetti and tagliatelle, in choices of Bolognese, chicken pesto and agli e olio.

Interiors are minimalistic with a vintage concept that is warm and comfy. The bakery and coffee counter is on the first level, where afternoons see a good mix of customers. Families and group gatherings are catered to well around the main dining room and out on Livingstone's alfresco terrace that is well shaded by leafy vertical gardens. A gelato counter in the form of a wooden wagon is a sure draw for kids, with a variety of flavours served by cup and cone.

Upstairs, you’ll find Buro - a co-working space and a boutique shop concept that welcomes those on lunchtime meetings or simply for old friends looking for a place to catch up. Various designer fashion items are displayed around the perimeter, available for purchase, while a bar sits in the middle, manned by baristas who craft out artistic latte art. The bar also serves a selection of libations to an evening crowd, while a live acoustic band performs nightly from 19:00 to 22:00.
