  • The Little Green Cafe

    Vegetarian’s Cosy Corner in Seminyak

    0

A small compound off one of Seminyak’s interlinked side streets, The Little Green Cafe welcomes you into a comforting world of wholesome and tasty delights. The cafe serves homemade fresh salads, cakes, healthy soups and bakes, spring rolls and veggie burgers alongside lassi and smoothies, aromatic teas, coffees and refreshing juices.

Using as many organic ingredients as possible and sourcing mostly local produce, The Little Green Cafe is mainly for those in touch with green and healthy living, vegans and vegetarians alike. However, omnivores will also readily indulge in its tasty dips, sweet salad dressings and freshly prepared munchies.

  • Cosy Little Café

With a name that is a clear nod to the green movement, The Little Green Cafe is also a cosy little corner to veer into along Seminyak’s Jalan Bidadari for a fit bite, big or small. Upon arrival, a vine-entwined bamboo archway and its small open kitchen welcome you with a glass display filled with ‘salads of the day’. Mini blackboards with the highlighted menus hang over the kitchen’s walls.

Between this main kitchen and the whole food store up front is a small cool compound with a mango tree that provides ample natural shade over table setups under green parasols. A mini garden with Buddha statues and colourful floral wreaths add a subtle touch of Zen, as does a sculpted stone orb fountain as its centrepiece. This kind of relaxed atmosphere sets the mood nicely.

    Healthy Food and Drinks

Peer through the kitchen’s glass buffet and you’ll find a selection of pre-mixed, ready-to-go salads. Simply ask the friendly staff for some fresh recommendations, especially as the cafe's food and drinks are adjustable according to your dietary needs (either vegan, raw, wheat-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, and so forth).

Pick from a selection of vegetarian delights and house specials, such as a veggie burger that comes with a choice of two salads, pitta bread filled with green salad and an option for a second salad and house dip, and the Vietnamese spring rolls with greens. The menu changes daily but it is mainly salads, porridges, and an array of fruit, nut and chocolate cakes. Naturally recommended is to go for the main dish and soups of the day, with a power smoothie that is a blend of papaya, banana, coconut milk and yoghurt, or any selection of the fresh juices according to season.

Good to Know about Little Green Cafe

The spot is located off the main roads north of Seminyak’s Jalan Mertanadi and the corner of Jalan Bidadari. Parking is a slight issue with space fit only for a few motorbikes at the front entrance, so taxi rides will really ease your trip here. The dining setting is open air, with no indoor or air-conditioned options. It is shady and a cool retreat from the Seminyak daytime heat, nevertheless, and a good spot to bring a book. On the way out, step into the food store for organic jams, assorted lentils and healthy snacks for the road.
