The Kuta Beach warung complex is a cluster of small, local restaurants with ocean views. These thatched-roof shacks on the southern end of the beach serves a great variety of cheap local dishes. They’re neatly arranged and easy to find, next to the Kuta Art Market.
There’s well over a dozen, huddled together along 50 meters of the beach footpath. You can walk down the beach footpath, browse through their colourful menu boards, and make your pick. The seating is quite compact and simple, just like a street-side food court. Besides cheap, you get the seascape with Kuta’s surf in view, under the shade of a lush coconut grove.

What to eat at Kuta Beach Local Warungs
These warungs (small local restaurants) on Kuta Beach offer a well-varied mix. Each stall differs from the other next to it. Nasi goreng or fried rice and gado-gado salad in peanut sauce are a few of the popular local picks. Other Indonesian favourites include Padang (North Sumatran-style) curried chicken and grilled spicy chicken. There’s one warung offering Bali’s favourite suckling pig, babi guling, served with steamed white rice. Another specialises in assorted grilled satays. Kuta Beach warung complex is a perfect go-to to replenish, in between your time on the sand or in the waves.
The first warung you’ll come across from the north is Warung De’ Apel. It serves pizzas, Indonesian and Chinese dishes. After that there's a great mix with many different warungs to choose from. At the southernmost end, adjacent the Kuta Art Market, you’ll find a cluster of small restaurants serving seafood and mostly halal cuisine. One is Warung Sate Barokah. This Muslim Madurese restaurant offers succulent lamb satays, gulai lamb stew as well as chicken satays and soups. Almost every single restaurant in this warung complex serves fresh young coconut, fruit juices, soft drinks and ice-cold Bintangs. Meals start from IDR 25,000 (under 2 dollars).
