Sea, Surf, Sunsets and Seafood at Kelan Beach
By day, you can simply stroll the quiet beach or pick a spot on the sand to take in the calm and expansive seascapes. The waves might not be the best for swimming, although some surfers usually boat out to the great breaks off the runway, called Airport Lefts and Airport Rights. Mornings are a much quieter than the afternoons and are a great time for jogging along the white sand.
Fondly nicknamed by locals as “K-Land”, Kelan Beach is a fine choice for affordable seafood with sunset views. There are several local warung food stalls serving grilled seafood along the coast, with your choice of fish from as cheap as IDR 20,000 (USD 1.40) per kilogram. The fancier restaurants with tables laid out on the sand are also usually somewhat cheaper than Jimbaran’s. Runway lights, landing planes, and fishing boats with their lanterns dot the horizon at dusk.
