Cemara Beach in Sanur

Bali Beaches

Cemara Beach or Pantai Cemara in Sanur, is a continuation of the coastal strip of Sanur. The beach continues south after Semawang Beach, in between the Puri Santrian hotel and the Prama Sanur Beach Bali. It also shares its name with a beachfront restaurant. The scene here is quieter than Sanur’s main coastal hub to the north. Fewer locals frequent this well touristed area, nevertheless, there are plenty of small warung food stalls selling cold drinks and refreshments, as well as dive operators and the Bali Seawalker Tour HQ.

Cemara Beach Coastal Scene

Sanur’s beach footpath traverses Cemara Beach and is named Jalan Kusuma Sari for most of its length. Like the whole east coast strip of Sanur, Cemara Beach offers a good walking, jogging or cycling path with views of the wonderful sunrises. The beach itself is regularly combed clean by the hotel staff and high tides offer good waters to swim in. The waves are relatively calm, thanks to the Sanur reef protecting the coastline. At low tide however, you can stroll amongst the coarse sand and the rock pools to discover starfish, corals and tropical fish.

Along the beach, there are plenty of options for dining and chilling out with the view and gentle sea breezes. A great go-to is the Bamboo Bar & Lounge at the beachfront of Prama Sanur Beach Bali. The venue features an impressive tropical bamboo structure and serves light bites such as pizzas, burgers, and Balinese favourites such as nasi campur mixed rice, alongside refreshing cocktails and cold Bintang. For budget meals, you can try the Indonesian selections at Cemara Beach Restaurant, halfway along the beach and right at the end of the main access road of Jalan Cemara.
