With its sheer 4size and striking design, and being conveniently just across the road from the sands of Kuta Beach, the Kuta Beachwalk is in itself a modern Kuta landmark with its main building architecture, large ponds and running water features imitate the curves of a paddy field. A wide central atrium provides natural airflow, with ample shades and real gardens in its open spaces. The complex houses mostly international brands and luxury outlets, hence the price range being on the higher side. Various outlets behind large windows line the curvy arcades and it represents a complete boutique shopping experience. Popular brands include Armani, Versace, Pull & Bear and Stradivarius, among others. Read More...

Prapen is a major design house, manufacturer, retailer and wholesaler of contemporary gold and silver jewellery, with its main gallery and workshop located right in Bali’s famous gold and silversmith’s neighbourhood of Celuk village in the Gianyar regency. The family jewellery production business started in the 1940s and, like most of the top jewellery producers in the region, has gained an international clientele. When you’re not admiring the many different shimmering pendants, necklaces, earrings and gem-studded brooches in the glass displays in the spacious showroom, you can step into its adjacent workshop to see the metalworkers in action, busy at granulation, soldering and polishing tiny gold and silver masterpieces. This little boutique on a corner of Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak is as appealing as the sterling silver and jewellery collections it houses. This palm-shaded and softly-lit store showcases the best designs of New York-born Balinese designer, Sri Luce Rusna. Her designs have successfully struck a balance between East and West through a series of unique, one-off pieces. With its early New York presence, it is small wonder that Tulola has gained the patronage of celebrities like Mischa Barton, former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland and rock diva Courtney Love. Inside this fascinating little boutique on one corner of Seminyak’s Jalan Petitenget, you’ll find tribal- and ethnic-styled jewellery pieces designed by Bali-based Kiwi, Rabia Bullough. Think Borneo, with the tattooed tribal jungle women wearing unique golden lobe plugs or ‘tunnels’. There are pieces inspired by these styles with contemporary touches, from gold-plated teardrop-shaped lobe plugs with white topaz, to peculiar Chinese ear weights dotted with black resin. Minimalist selections include plain gold and brass plugs designed in hollow, star, lotus and hexagonal shapes. Necklaces and a great range of rings, earrings and bracelets in brass, gold and silver will delight ladies – some of them go well with any outfit, adding a bit of dazzle to casual or evening wear. For some rare and luxurious jewellery and décor, you can add this boutique to your shopping walks while up in Ubud. Jean-François Fichot is the eponymous flagship store of a late French designer and collector, which resides among a row of shops and restaurants on Jalan Raya Pengosekan, just east of the Ubud Monkey Forest. This gorgeously laid out boutique hosts a vast collection of the works of art from a man who spent most of his life scouring the globe for unusual natural materials, which he later passionately incorporated into one-of-a-kind, contemporary jewellery and home décor pieces. Most are on sale, with several pieces obviously only for die-hard fine art collectors. Read More...

As one of the most popular Bali-based designer labels, Biasa is both for ladies and men seeking easy and cool clothing that is both fashionable and ideal for the tropics. Biasa’s high-end Seminyak flagship store boasts two levels; the first highlights collections for ‘her’, including matching accessories such as lightweight shawls, scarves, belts and handbag varieties, while the upper level has a range of items for ‘him’. Biasa (meaning ‘ordinary’ in the local tongue) boldly contradicts its name through its out-of-the-ordinary designs. The boutique stocks unique pieces, incorporating light and top-quality cotton, linen and silk. Soft fabrics merge into fine individual pieces based on the sketches and cuts of founding designer, Susanna Perini. Read More...
