  • 10 Best Shopping Malls in Bali

    Most Popular Bali Malls

These 10 best shopping malls in Bali comprise a selection of the island’s most notable, found in major resort areas such as Kuta, Tuban and Nusa Dua, and Bali’s provincial capital of Denpasar which caters more to locals. As a resort island destination, Bali may be lacking in high-rising buildings and wealth of glitzy shopping malls, however some in these picks are quite large complexes with plenty in the way of dining and entertainment.

The Kuta Beachwalk, for instance, is a massive beachfront shopping, dining and lifestyle centre in Kuta with a design that is perhaps one of its kind in Indonesia, and with some of its tenants serving as destinations on their own. Others are home to great department stores and gift shops where you can source for quality fashion items or souvenirs, saving you the trip and the hard haggling at Bali’s major art markets. Escape the heat of the day, watch a movie, or simply go on a spree at these best shopping malls in Bali!

Kuta Beachwalk broke grounds in 2012 as one of the most ambitious projects along Kuta’s main beach drive of Jalan Pantai Kuta. The shopping, dining and entertainment complex is the first and only of its kind on the island, boasting a freeform, airy and unique design that is a major departure from the typical mall. It has various luxury brand shops and boutique tenants over its three levels, with some of its venues on its topmost western edge, such as VH Bali, offering great views over Kuta’s rolling surf and sunsets. Besides standalone restaurants near its street side, there’s a major food court with a huge variety from local to international dishes, and it’s even home to one of the largest cinema chains in Indonesia, the XXI Cineplex. In all, it’s a great spot to escape to whenever you’re feeling peckish or want to escape the heat of the day while on Kuta Beach. Read More...

One of the longer established shopping hubs in Kuta is Discovery Shopping Mall, located right beside the Discovery Kartika Plaza hotel, and across the road from the Waterbom Bali water park. It features a great beachside location with an open-air amphitheatre right on Kuta Beach. Inside, you’ll find numerous fashion and lifestyle outlets spread well over its three levels, together with restaurants and franchise fast food outlets serving a wide range of snacks and cuisines. You can enter the mall either street side on Jalan Kartika Plaza, or up the flight of stairs from the beach. There’s also a large souvenir market on its southern side, where you can source for great handicrafts and Balinese knick-knacks without the hard bargaining. Read More...

Mal Bali Galeria is one of Bali’s most well-established shopping malls, appealing to both locals and visitors. It serves as an unofficial landmark complementing the Simpang Dewaruci roundabout connecting Kuta with Nusa Dua and Sanur, therefore quite hard to miss. The mall underwent a series of upgrades and changes throughout the years, with the most recent additions being one of the largest ACE Hardware stores in Bali, a large Hypermart chain supermarket, several notable international fashion brands stores and an expanded multiple storey carpark. Embracing a ‘family mall’ concept, the Galeria comprises numerous dining outlets, regular live entertainment scheduled in its central courtyard, and there’s an adjoining Cineplex too, making it a favourite weekend destination. Besides the main department store, this single building on Denpasar’s Jalan Dewi Sartika also houses brand stores such as Nike and Hush Puppies, alongside various counters offering original perfumes, a Body Shop, and Athlete’s Foot. Prices tend to be higher than what you will find in other malls in Denpasar, but come with better quality and with a huge variety. As one of the island’s first malls, Ramayana Mal Bali in Denpasar offers a great thrift shopping experience, especially for its wide range of clothing items over its four floors. The ground level features a choice of restaurants, while on the uppermost level are game arcades and an entertainment centre complete with a bowling alley. Positioned quite a distance from the main tourist areas of southern Bali such as Kuta and Seminyak, the trip lets you experience a mall that is mostly catered to locals, which loosely translates to good prices. There are money changers at hand on the ground level to change your dollars – remember to count your notes well before leaving the counter. Read More...
