Kuta Beach Activities

What to Do in Kuta Beach

Most of the activities in Kuta are related to the beach. The options are endless – you may try surfing, swimming, sunbathing or kite-flying, or you could simply head to neighbouring Tuban for some splashing fun and watersliding action at Waterbom Bali, deemed one of Asia's premier waterparks.

If you just want to have fun or relax, you can employ a team of masseurs while you sunbathe. You will know the massage ladies immediately from their cries of, "Hello, yes? Massage?" If you aren’t accosted by a team of them offering pedicures, manicures and hair-braiding alongside a massage, you will easily spot them sitting along the sand, waiting for their next customer.

Beach soccer

Kuta is where you can enjoy a beach soccer game with the locals. They usually set up goal posts at around 4pm between Hard Rock Hotel and Discovery Shopping Mall, as well as other sections along the beach. Enjoy a few friendly matches before sunset – you might even make a friend or two during your vacation in Bali.

Kite flying

Kite flying is a safe, fun activity on the beach with your family! Wondering where to buy one? You can easily find a line-up of small shops and vendors selling contemporary models, from sailing ships with rainbow coloured sails to flying foxes. Do like a local by flying traditional Balinese kites, such as Bebean (fish-shaped), Janggan (bird-shaped), and Pecukan (leaf-shaped). After getting a design of your choice, find a deserted and windy spot on Kuta Beach and let your kite soar across the sky.

Sunbathing in Kuta is popular for beachgoers who are keen to get that much-coveted tan. Bali enjoys sunny days pretty much year-round, so lying on the beach with your bikini or shorts and sunglasses can be an effortless way to spend the day in Kuta. Many beachfront hotels, restaurants and bars offer sun-loungers if you didn’t pack a blanket.

Apply sunscreen with a high SPF content and try not to sunbathe during midday, when the sun is at its harshest. Drink plenty of water throughout the day – Kuta Beach has plenty of vendors patrolling the beach, many of whom also sells light snacks, ice cream and fruit.
