Your Bali trip would be incomplete without a visit to this island's most iconic temple and landmark. Tanah Lot, located on Bali's south-western coast, is where you can enjoy the most exotic sunsets behind the silhouette of the temple.
Before reaching Tanah Lot, just in time to catch the mesmerising views, this tour takes you on a half-day journey that starts after noon to see several other temple attractions that are silent witnesses of Bali's glorious past and are still functional and revered by the Balinese to this day. These include Taman Ayun, a stronghold of a 17th century dynasty; and Alas Kedaton, set within a nutmeg forest that is home to hordes of grey long-tailed macaques.

This excursion shows you the must sees of West Bali where you start from Pura Taman Ayun, founded by the King of Mengwi in the 17th century. It has three ascending levels of spacious courtyards containing rows of age-old shrines and pavilions and is surrounded by a wide lotus-filled moat. Continue to Alas Kedaton, the holy monkey forest with its tall nutmeg trees. Your last stop will be Tanah Lot temple, one of the holiest temples in Bali which is built atop a huge rock and surrounded by the sea. Enjoy the wonderful sunset when the golden red sky frame the temple roof and the waves crashing into the rocks. |
