The bay at Tulamben is home to schools of jack fish while the wall at the end of the bay plummets from the surface to 60 meters (200 feet) and is covered with soft coral trees, gorgonian fans and giant barrel sponges.
Other willing subjects to be inspected or photographed by divers include ghost pipe fish, angler fish, sea horses, long nosed hawk fish and incalculable species of nudibranches, cowries and many other rare crustaceans. White tipped reef sharks can also be found further around the wall for the more adventurous diver. The water in the bay is mostly calm, and is suitable for both beginner and experienced divers.

A popular and dramatic dive site well-known for its shipwreck USAT Liberty which was torpedoed by the Japanese during the World War II. The shipwreck lies on black volcanic sand at 5 – 30 meters depth and close to the shore. This dive site is also very popular among well known underwater photographer. There can’t be any other wish than to see the large variety of fish over here and not far from the shipwreck there is a wall with a variety of hard corals, soft corals and beautiful tropical coral fishes. |
