Discover the spiced flavors of Bali's virtually unknown cuisine. Classes offer a fascinating introduction to the exotic ingredients and unique culinary heritage of Bali. They provide a valuable insight into the various techniques of food preparation and the cooking style used in our island home. Each tantalizing recipe prepared is accompanied by clear step-by-step descriptions for easy reference.
To promote the food of Bali further we offer interested visitors to participate in our very popular cooking program. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we take participants to the local markets where we purchase many of the produces for the day’s class. After a hearty Balinese Breakfast we will spend a most informative morning in a specially designed kitchen preparing and grinding a minimum of 25 recipes. Classes are limited to 12 participants, this to give everyone a chance to receive personal attention in the step-by-step preparation of the dishes. No effort has been spared in creating a place of discovery, friendliness and comfort. It is our aim not only to share with you the best dishes of Bali put to also let you into the many secrets of a true Balinese home.

7-10 hours
The program starts with an early morning visit to the local vegetable and fish market where many of the ingredients are purchased for the day's program, including spices, meat, chicken, cakes and the freshest seafood. Visitors will witness and experience the very busy, daily early morning activities of the local community, who is eager to finish their shopping before 7.00am.
The next stop will be with Ibu Nyoman who is collecting the fish from the returning fishing fleet. No fish will make it into our shopping basket that has not crystal clear eyes and carries the freshness of the wide ocean.
After a satisfying breakfast of Balinese cakes, the freshest fruits, black rice pudding and a bowl of tender sweet rice flour dumplings in palm sugar coconut sauce, we will leave the comfort of the dining pavilion with the wide open Balinese kitchen.
Dressed in black and white aprons and a copy of 25 recipes participants will be guided into the many secrets, and flavors of Bali and at the same time, discover and feel the peacefulness of a harmonious Balinese home.
The lessons are hosted by Heinz von Holzen, author of four highly acclaimed cookbooks, (The Food of Bali, Bali Unveiled: The Secrets of Balinese Cuisine, and Feast of Flavors from the Balinese Kitchen, Feast of Flavors Indonesia) and the assistance of his talented Balinese Chef, Pak Bagus.
After four most informative and entertaining hours in the kitchen the small group will face the grandest and final task, sampling and enjoying the mouth watering dishes which the group has prepared
