Candidasa is the most popular beach resort along Bali’s east coast. It’s where you can enjoy a quiet seaside escape, far from the crowds and busier traffic scenes of the island’s south. The main road of Jalan Raya Candidasa runs parallel the shoreline, lined with varying accommodation from basic hotels to five-star resorts. There’s a host of good shops, bars and restaurants in between. The beach itself features a sequence of sandy shores and breakwaters.
Some dive operators boat out from Candidasa towards famous dive spots nearby. It also serves as a good base for exploring some of Bali’s important historical sites, such as the Taman Ujung water palace and the Tirta Gangga royal water gardens. From the hub of Candidasa alone, you can travel uphill towards Tenganan to discover one of Bali’s oldest villages, where ancient arts and traditions live on. Here’s everything you need to know about Candidasa.
